Instructions and Terms for the Course

1. Read: Please read through each lesson either independently or out loud with others in a group setting.

2. Reflect and Pray: Take some quiet time (5-15 minutes) to reflect and pray about the teachings in the lesson and about how they might apply to your life. It might be helpful to write down your thoughts.

3. Decide and Act: Decide if and how you will act upon what you learned or what stood out to you in this lesson. Pray for the graces you need such as the grace to love God more, and to know God's will and to do it.

Optional Group Discussion: If you feel comfortable and would like to, take time to share or discuss each lesson. You can do this either in a group setting, or if you have registered for the online course for yourself or your small group, you can use the online dialog box at the bottom of each lesson page to report either your comments or a summary of your group’s comments.

Comments might include what particularly stood out to you about the lesson, how it applies to your life, realizations or decisions you have made resulting from the lesson, and/or other related pertinent information.

The downloadable version of the course has questions and a place to write your answers and reflections after each lesson. You are free to use it like a journal and share or not with others as you feel inclined. Do not feel you have to share private thoughts and realizations if you don’t feel completely comfortable. This is basically between you and God, but sometimes it is good to have some outside input as well from others.

If you have comments or questions you'd like share about the lesson/writings on a particular page, please enter your comments in the dialog box at the bottom of the page. Also feel free to reply to others' comments by using the "reply" button by their post. Dialog and class interaction is encouraged to the level that you would like to be included.

This dialog boxes at the bottom of the lesson pages are a format for discussion, sharing related pertinent information, faith sharing, group feedback and/or online group spiritual direction that is related to the topic being covered. It is a place where people taking the class are welcome to share their insights, questions, and personal realizations and struggles regarding topics brought up in the course contents and get feedback from the moderator and others taking the course. The idea is not only to learn the teachings in the lessons, but also to apply them to our own life, and where applicable to put them into practice.

Privacy: The lesson dialog boxes are for those who have signed up for the course. The web pages for the course are not indexed on the internet. But since there is no guarantee that someone in the class won't share this information with others, please do not put any personally identifying information in your posts to help guarantee confidentiailty. This is so that everyone can feel free to express their thoughts and feelings while remaining anonymous on the internet. Please do not use your full name (first names are OK but not last names), nor real photo, nor any other information like addresses (cities or states are OK) or particular circumstances that allow others to identify you or persons in your life. This will allow confidentiality in sharing.

Images and Nicknames: Please be consistent with your identifying image (if any) and nickname so that people can connect you with your comments. You can add a graphic to represent you by clicking on the avatar photo and uploading it as long as it doesn't give away your identity and is not a personal photo.

Images in posts: If desired, you can also add "images" to your posts which can also be words as long as they are an image file such as a screen shot of a graphic image of a document (jpgs and png files for example), if there is something you'd like to share.

Reply: To reply to what someone else has said, hit the "reply" button under their comment to keep threads together.

Following threads: You can sign up to be notified by email of posts under "Follow".

Moderator: The discussions will be moderated and subject to deletion by the moderator if something is posted that is not in accord with these rules. It goes without saying that nothing offensive or crude language etc. is allowed. Kindness and respect to others is expected, even if expressing different points of view.

Staying on topic: Please try to stay on topic in your comments and not get too far off topic. Thank you.
